Does blow drying your dog's hair give it dandruff?

My dog had really bad dandruff, and we blow dry her hair after baths.

I was wondering if she gets dandruff because we blow dry her.

Does blow drying your dog's hair give it dandruff?

not at all. poor diet, and washing too much will give a dog dandruff. look at the ingredients in her food, and also think of how much you bathe her. a dog shouldnt be bathed more then every week and a half to two weeks.

.no. we blow dry our dog and she doesn't have dandruff.

Blow drying your dogs hair will definitly not give your dog dandruff.

Your dog just has really dry skin. When you give her a bath just use Baby Shampoo and inexpensive Conditioner. And towel dry her.

I'd ask how often ur washing the dog? If its often this could be the cause as your stripping away the natural oils in the hair.

Maybe you are bathing your dog to much. You should only be bathing with a good quality dog shampoo about once in 6 weeks. No i wont hurt to blow dry.

It's probably more a dietary issue, but frequent dryings on a very hot temperature setting can aggravate dry skin.

Try upgrading foods and/or add Lipiderm or a similar fatty acid supplement to her food, it should help.

I should add there is no actual evidence that washing a dog too frequently causes dry skin- many show dogs are washed several times a week while they are showing, and they have some of the nicest looking skin and coats you can find. I wash my dogs every week, and they've never had skin problems.

Nope, I blow dry my dog's hair after I give her a bath, and there's no dandruff.

DOG GROOMER / VET NURSE

Try leaving your dog to dry off normally if warm enough, blow drying won't cause dandruff, diet could be a factor, or it could be a skin related condition, such as a mite causing Walking Dandruff, you will not see this mite with the naked eye, only under a microscope, i would recommend trying to introduce oils into his food 3 times a week, something like olive oil or sunflower oil, mix 1 teaspoon in, you should see a difference within the month, if not and you continue to see dandruff, go to you vet and asl for a skin test, it it quick and pain free.

I don't think so. If it has started getting worse, it's probably because the change in the season. Dogs grow different coats for the summer and winter months. This aggravates their dandruff.

Does blow drying your dog's hair give it dandruff?

I dont think so, BUT do not use blow dryer on dogs hair because dogs have a higher body tempereature then humans and most of the blow dryer settings (even low) can easily over heat your dog, it may be drying out there skin. So i hope I helped.

Blow drying should be OK. I bet it's food related. I would add a little olive oil to her food, but I would be willing to bet that you get her food from Petco or the grocery store.
