Dog hair problem?

Friends have just moved to Spain with their 2 year old Staff. She is gorgeous but sheds so much hair! She did the same when in England too. Is there any particular reason - diet problem or something?

brush the dog a lot.

my nieghbors dog use to shed a lot as well. then they started to brush him a few minutes every other day and his shedding reduced.

and just a tip: if you sprinkle some olive oil on a dogs food then it helps improve the luster of their coats.

they should [if there not already diong ] brush her every couple days.

give her a bath about every month.

I give my dogs cod liver oil capsules, sure it helps

Some dogs just shed a lot naturally. It helps to brush them every day. And some pet stores sell a product to put on their food that helps with shedding. My brother says it helps with his dog.

could just be a diet defiency or it could be stress. sounds like she needs grooming every day

diet problems have very little to do with it dog just shed a lot if you wont a dog that doesn't shed a lot get a Maltese

Thats the norm. You can buy food supplements to reduce shedding, but they are expensive and do not eliminate theproblem. Reccomend a poodle or a Wheaton terrier for their next pet. They dont shed

tell me about it! i have a golden retriever and i could fill cushions with the amount of fur he sheds! it used to be worse before i started giving him cod liver oil. (it used to be clumps but now its strands). you can never stop it from shedding (just like our hair) but regular grooming helps

It could be her diet but i doubt it, its more likely stress! She's had a lot of upheaval hasn't she, moving to a different country and she would have felt stressed before she left as dogs sense everything thats going on around them. try giving her different foods if you want and you think it is her diet but i'd get something from the vets for stress! A tablet or a tonic of some sort to put in her food, A way to reduce the amount of hair in your friends house is to wipe a chamois leather over it. That will help until she can keep her coat!
